AUTO DOOR BELL

Necessity is the mother of invention. It is true for this project.
I am staying in the first floor and the main entrance (gate) is in the ground. Whenever a visitor comes,

he/she presses the electric bell. One of my family member goes down and open  the gate and welcome the guest and guide them to the first floor. When they are leaving ,we will go down to see them off and lock the gate.  This is repeated many times per day. This forced me to think for an alternative method. The result is the "auto door bell".
This mechanical device Will alert us whenever a visitor comes. We had stopped the locking the gate during daytime. Even if electricity fails, this device works and alert us that someone is opening the gate.
This device is working with some pullies ,a nylon thread, a bell and a counter weight. The principle is borrowed from the railway's old system of rail track changing mechanism by pulling a lever.
One end of the thread is tied to the bottom of the gate (door). The thread is passed through some pullies and the end is tied to the bronze bell with the counter weight. The bell is tied in such a way that it should strike hard objects during its movements. I had used the grill window. When the gate is opening, the bell will move upwards and downwards when the gate is closing. During this movement, the bell will strike the window bars and rings that alerts us.
I am attaching the video of my " alert bell " arrangement.
If some one moved the gate more than 4 cms, alert will be sounded.
It is so simple mechanism and hence you too can do it. Even if electricity fails, this will not fail.  Dogs bark to alert you about a unknown visitors. But this will ring when a known or unknown visitor open the gate.
